BROCKTON — Five individuals were taken into custody and four guns were seized after Brockton Police responded to a report of shots fired Thursday afternoon, officials said.
At approximately 4:16 p.m., officers rushed to Fitzpatrick Circle following reports of gunfire.
An SUV seen fleeing the scene led police on a chase that concluded in Easton, where the vehicle crashed and damaged a police cruiser.
Remarkably, no injuries were reported during the incident.
As the SUV came to a stop, four suspects attempted to flee on foot.
A coordinated effort between Brockton and Easton Police Departments resulted in the capture of three suspects at the scene, along with the recovery of three firearms.
Easton Police detained the fourth suspect, while Brockton Police apprehended a fifth individual on Chatham West Drive, where they recovered the final gun.
In addition to the firearms, officers seized Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid associated with a high risk of overdose.
Brockton Police Chief Brenda Perez praised the swift action of the officers involved. “I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the officers for their quick thinking and action that saved lives and prevented serious injury,” Perez stated. “The bravery and dedication Brockton and Easton Police Officers displayed are commendable.”
The incident underscores the dangers law enforcement face daily and highlights the effectiveness of interdepartmental cooperation in ensuring public safety.
The suspects are awaiting charges as the investigation continues.
