Troopers arrest two on warrants following traffic stops in Providence

PROVIDENCE — Troopers from the Scituate Barracks arrested two individuals on outstanding warrants following separate traffic stops in the city, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

At 12:11 p.m., Trooper arrested Joan Dejesus, age 43, of 80 Curtis Street, Providence, for a Providence Superior Court Bench Warrant for failure to appear for a technical violation on the original charge of Larceny out of Providence Police Department.

The arrest occurred during a motor vehicle stop on Route 10.

Dejesus was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed, and then taken to Providence Superior Court.

Later that day, at 10:23 p.m., Troopers arrested Luis Lopez, age 41, of 80 Elmdale Avenue, Providence, for a Third Division District Court Bench Warrant for failure to appear at an arraignment on the original charge of Driving with a Suspended License, originating from the Cranston Police Department.

Lopez was apprehended following a traffic stop on Hartford Ave.

He was processed at State Police Headquarters and subsequently transported to the ACI – Men’s Intake Center.
