Somerville police report string of break-ins, thefts, assaults

SOMERVILLE — A series of break-ins, thefts, and assaults have been reported in Somerville over the past week, according to police records.

In the first incident, Somerville Police were called to a residence on Heath Street at approximately 1:49 p.m. on Aug. 14 after a homeowner reported a past breaking and entering.

The victim informed officers that an unidentified person had broken into his house and stolen various items of clothing.

Two days later, on Aug. 16 around 2:39 a.m., officers responded to a reported breaking and entering in progress on Russell Street.

Police arrived to find a male suspect inside the residence and promptly placed him under arrest.

On the evening of Aug. 18, at about 10:34 p.m., authorities were dispatched to 389 Highland Ave following a report of a larceny.

The victim claimed he was assaulted by a male suspect near Seven Hills Park, who punched him in the face and stole his electric scooter.

In a separate assault incident, police were called to an apartment complex on Broadway at roughly 2:26 a.m. on Aug. 19.

A victim reported that she was attacked by a male and female in Seven Hills Park the previous week, sustaining injuries to her eye and stomach.

Earlier on Aug. 16, at approximately 4:23 p.m., officers were summoned to a business in Assembly Row due to an assault.

An employee alleged that a juvenile male shoplifted two drinks and later returned to throw a bottle at the employee’s head.

The suspect was identified by police.

Other recent crimes reported in Somerville include seven bike thefts, four package thefts, one motor vehicle vandalism, two car break-ins, two vandalisms, and one motor vehicle theft.

The Somerville Police Department is actively investigating these incidents and encourages anyone with information to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
