BARNET — A local man was arrested Tuesday after Vermont State Police investigated a reported sexual assault in this small community.
Authorities say Shawn Bourn, 33, faces charges of attempted sexual assault, lewd and lascivious conduct, and simple assault following an incident that took place Monday.
The state police were called to a Barnet location on Aug. 20 to investigate the report.
The subsequent investigation led to Bourn’s arrest.
Bourn, a Barnet resident, was ordered held without bail.
He is expected to be arraigned at the Caledonia County Superior Court.
The identity of the victim has not been released by the police, following standard practice to protect victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
