Bridgeport man arrested, charged with kidnapping and sexual assault

BRIDGEPORT — A Bridgeport man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an adult female is now in custody after a coordinated effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies.

The Bridgeport Police Department announced the arrest of Leroy Martin Pressley Jr., 36, of Norwalk, following a report from the victim that she was abducted at gunpoint from her eastside apartment on Aug. 15 and assaulted.

She also indicated that she and Pressley Jr. had been involved in a previous domestic relationship.

Detective Sergeant Jack Debarros led a thorough investigation by the Special Victim’s Unit, resulting in two felony arrest warrants for Pressley Jr.

On Aug. 20, Norwalk Police, with assistance from the FBI, located Pressley Jr. during a felony traffic stop in their jurisdiction.

He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of illegal narcotics, leading to additional charges by the Norwalk Police Department.

After making bond on the narcotics violations, Pressley Jr. was transferred to the Bridgeport Police Department, where he was served with the outstanding warrants.

Pressley Jr. faces several charges, including sexual assault in the first degree with a $250,000 bond and multiple other felonies, including kidnapping and reckless endangerment, totaling a $500,000 bond.

His arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 21 at Bridgeport Superior Court.

The Bridgeport Police Department has expressed gratitude to the Norwalk Police Department and federal law enforcement for their efforts in capturing Pressley Jr.
