Driver arrested for DUI after colliding with Rhode Island state police cruiser

PROVIDENCE — A womman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence in the early hours of Aug. 21 following an incident with a police cruiser, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

At at 3:30 a.m., Samantha Hardman, 25, of Johnston, was arrested after her vehicle collided with a State Police cruiser on Douglas Pike in Smithfield.

Hardman also faces charges of first-offense driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs with an unknown B.A.C., along with refusal to submit to a chemical test.

She was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing and later released to a responsible adult.

Hardman is scheduled to appear in the Third Division District Court.
