TEWKSBURY — Chief Ryan Columbus reported that a 45-year-old Tewksbury man has been arrested and charged in connection to a steakhouse burglary and is also facing charges as a fugitive from justice.

Michael Moran, age 45, of Tewksbury, was taken into custody and charged with breaking and entering at night, larceny from a building, and being a fugitive from justice on a court warrant, according to the Tewksbury Police Department.

On Aug. 8, at approximately 11:05 a.m., police officers responded to a report of a possible break-in at Kyoto Steakhouse on 1487 Main St. The restaurant owner reported a loss of $250 from the cash register and a bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

Reviewing security footage, authorities observed an individual entering the restaurant through an unlocked door around 3:27 a.m. and exiting four minutes later with what seemed to be cash and a bottle of vodka, then heading toward Hinckley Road.

After examining the surveillance footage and conducting a thorough investigation, police identified Moran as the suspect.

Officers had previously interacted with Moran on Aug. 15, and noted physical similarities to the individual in the footage.

Further investigation revealed that Moran had an active arrest warrant from New Hampshire.

Upon executing a search warrant at Moran’s residence, police found clothing that matched what was seen in the surveillance video from the Kyoto Steakhouse incident.

Moran was arrested without incident on Monday, Aug. 19, and was arraigned the following day at Lowell District Court.

He was released on personal recognizance, with the stipulation to report to New Hampshire authorities by Oct. 4 and to refrain from visiting the Kyoto Steakhouse.
