WESTPORT — Three juveniles suspected of an armed robbery in Trumbull were apprehended in Westport on Aug. 18 after a brief pursuit by police that ended in a vehicle crash.

The suspects, traveling in a black Infiniti reportedly involved in an earlier Trumbull robbery where a firearm was brandished, were initially chased by Trumbull police.

The chase continued southbound on Interstate 95 near Exit 23 until a Westport officer spotted the vehicle on Greens Farms Road.

Despite attempts to stop the vehicle with stop sticks on Bridge Street, the suspects continued recklessly, leading officers to terminate the chase on Saugatuck Avenue.

The vehicle then collided with another car at the intersection of Duck Pond Road, causing disabling damage.

The three suspects fled the vehicle but were quickly located by Westport Police with assistance from Norwalk Police and the Connecticut State Police.

An eyewitness reported seeing items thrown from the car during the chase, leading to the recovery of a firearm.

The driver of the vehicle hit by the suspects was taken to Norwalk Hospital with minor injuries.

The operator of the suspect vehicle was charged with misdemeanors including reckless operation and engaging police in pursuit.

All three suspects were handed over to Trumbull Police for charges related to the armed robbery.

Saugatuck Avenue was temporarily closed for the investigation.
