CHELSEA — A 54-year-old Chelsea man was arrested and charged with burglary after Vermont State Police responded to a break-in at a local residence on Aug. 16.

Max Quayle, 54, was taken into custody later in the day following the reported burglary at the home of Elaine Morris, 56, also a Chelsea resident.

Troopers had probable cause to believe Quayle had burglarized Morris’s home earlier that evening.

Quayle was not found at the scene when officers first arrived around 7:47 p.m., but was apprehended by state police later.

He was transported to the Royalton State Police barracks for processing.

Quayle has been cited to appear before the Orange County Superior Court Criminal Division at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 to face the burglary charges.

Court action is pending.
