NORTH KINGSTOWN — Several residents have reported receiving fraudulent invoices by email, purportedly from the Town Clerk, the North Kingstown Police Department warned today.
The scam emails are designed to mimic official town communications, but they are sent from addresses that do not match the legitimate “@northkingstownri.gov” email domain.
Residents are advised to carefully check the sender’s email address when receiving an invoice.
To avoid falling victim to such scams, the police department recommends contacting Town Hall directly at 401-294-3331 for invoice verification.
Authorities urge the community to stay vigilant and protect their personal information against these deceptive practices.
