Needham police respond to break-ins, thefts, and vehicle incidents

NEEDHAM — Needham Police Department had a busy week responding to various incidents, including break-ins, thefts, and vehicle-related offenses, according to their latest activity report.

On Aug. 5 at around 12:31 a.m., officers were called to a Great Plain Avenue address for a reported breaking and entering in progress.

They located a vehicle linked to the incident, but it sped away from officers.

The chase was called off due to safety concerns, and the investigation is ongoing.

Later that day, at 1:41 p.m., an officer assisted a citizen with property retrieval issues.

At 4:00 p.m., Needham police assisted Dover police with a recovered stolen vehicle, and at 6:00 p.m., a lost Mexican passport was reported by a walk-in at the police station.

The following day, at 1:18 p.m., police took a report of vandalism on Wexford Street.

At 3:00 p.m., a Parkland Road resident’s missing property was returned thanks to a good Samaritan.

At 7:53 p.m., an officer responded to a South Street address regarding a fraudulent phone call.

On Aug. 7, police dealt with a vehicle with expired registration at 10:48 a.m. and a check fraud report at 12:15 p.m. At 1:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to a Highland Avenue address for a verbal argument, and at 5:08 p.m., a Frances Street resident reported a false unemployment claim.

On Aug. 8, at 12:44 a.m., an officer resolved a dispute with a disorderly Lyft passenger.

At 7:30 a.m., a motorist was stopped for a traffic violation and was summoned to court for unlicensed operation.

Reports of possible stolen money and a check fraud were also filed that morning.

On Aug. 9, a package theft was reported at 1:00 p.m. by a Dunster Road resident.

On Aug. 10, at 9:15 a.m., an officer documented a report of past threats.

At 7:30 p.m., a South Street resident reported identity theft and a possible iPhone theft.

On Aug. 11, at 5:01 p.m., a vehicle was used without authority on Perrault Road, and a 31-year-old man will be summoned to court.

At 8:54 p.m., an officer assisted a resident who was locked out of her home.

Later, a 35-year-old man with two active arrest warrants was apprehended by police.

The Needham Police Department continues to investigate these and other incidents.
