Glover Park to celebrate grand opening with art, music, and activities

GLOVER — The new Glover Park on Route 122 will celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, August 25, from noon to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The celebration will feature a variety of artists and performers showcasing the park’s potential as a public space for community gatherings and activities.

The event kicks off at noon with a community mural creation inside the pavilion, led by muralist Tata Goreau. At 1 p.m., Eric Petit will present on kinetic forest art mobiles and cairn building, offering insights into nature-inspired artistic creations.

The afternoon culminates at 2 p.m. with an interactive jazz performance featuring Michael Close on cello, Emily Lanxer on steelpan, and Ras Moshe on saxophone. Audience members will be encouraged to create nature-based haiku poetry, which the musicians will randomly select as inspiration for their improvisations.

Visitors are encouraged to bring bicycles to try out the pump track built by IdeRide. The event will also highlight the timber frame pavilion and covered bridge constructed by Green Timber Works, showcasing the park’s architectural features.

Park organizers will share information about future plans, including a community garden project.

The grand opening aims to introduce residents to the new public space and showcase its potential for community events and recreational activities.
