Marlboro woman fatally struck by vehicle on VT-9 near Hogback Mountain

MARLBORO — A local woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on VT-9 near the Hogback Mountain Scenic Overlook on Saturday morning.

The Vermont State Police – Westminster Barracks reported that they received several 911 calls around 11:03 a.m. regarding a pedestrian accident.

Upon arrival, troopers, alongside Deerfield Valley Rescue and the Marlboro Fire Department, found 74-year-old Constance J. Vrooman of Marlboro deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 77-year-old Paul A. Rokke, also of Marlboro, was not injured in the incident.

Rokke’s 2018 Chevrolet Silverado was reported to have no damage, and he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Vermont State Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the crash.
