Bourne issues warning on wind turbine debris cleanup

1 min read

BOURNE — In the wake of debris from the Vineyard Wind project washing ashore on the Nantucket Sound coastline, Bourne officials are urging the public to refrain from handling the materials.

The town’s assistant administrator, Liz Hartsgrove, issued a public notice today, reminding residents to avoid collecting or disposing of any debris, which may include foam and fiberglass pieces of varying sizes found along the shores of Cape Cod towns.

Residents are instructed not to dispose of the debris in their home garbage or bring it to the Bourne landfill.

Instead, they are to report any findings to the Vineyard Wind Debris Reporting Hotline at 833-609-5768 for proper collection and disposal by trained Vineyard Wind employees or contractors.

The notice emphasizes the importance of immediate reporting to allow Vineyard Wind to remove the debris for analysis and ensure environmentally safe disposal.

For further information or to report debris, residents can contact Liz Hartsgrove at [email protected] or call 508-759-0600.
