BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest during a traffic stop at the intersection of Columbia Road and Dudley Street in Dorchester at about 7:36 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers were patrolling near Bird St. and Hancock St. when they noticed a vehicle with dark tinted windows speeding.

They located and stopped the vehicle at 782 Dudley St.

As officers approached and spoke with the driver, Christopher Rodriguez, 33, of Hyde Park, they noticed three occupants inside, with the front seat and back seat passengers not wearing seatbelts.

Initial interactions were cordial, but unusual behavior from the backseat passenger prompted an investigation.

Upon issuing exit orders for safety concerns, the occupants became confrontational, with Rodriguez attempting to prevent officers from entering the vehicle by closing a door on an officer’s arm.

All three individuals were removed from the vehicle.

Officers recovered a firearm from the center console, identified as a black and gray 9mm Taurus G3C with a laser, a high-capacity magazine, and twelve 9mm cartridges.

Rodriguez faces charges including Unlawful Possession of Ammunition (Subsequent Offense), Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Firearm Without a License (2nd Subsequent Offense), Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and a Firearm Violation with 2 Prior Violent and/or Drug Crimes.

He was also cited for having a Nontransparent Window Obstruction and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
