WHITMAN — A Hanson man identified as a Level 3 sex offender has been arrested and charged with Open and Gross Lewdness after he allegedly exposed himself to two juvenile girls, police reported.

Paul St. Martin, age 59, of Hanson, was arraigned on Monday, July 29, at Brockton District Court.

The court ordered him held on $10,000 bail, and he remains in custody at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 27.

Whitman Police Officers Robert Hoey, Sgt. David Gregory, and Officer Michael Combra responded to reports of a man exposing himself near the intersection of Route 18 and Route 27.

The juvenile victims described the suspect as a man in his 50s driving a white sedan with Indiana license plates.

According to the victims, the man pulled up next to them, exposed himself, and then drove away without speaking or leaving his vehicle.

An investigation was launched immediately, with officers utilizing video surveillance footage to identify the vehicle as a Chevy Malibu sedan.

A “be on the lookout” bulletin was distributed to area law enforcement agencies with details about the incident, the suspect, and his vehicle.

Detective Paul Young received a tip the following day from a nearby police department about a similar incident.

The vehicle’s license plate, obtained by witnesses, led to the identification of St. Martin, who had recently rented the Chevy Malibu.

With the assistance of Hanson Police, officers stopped St. Martin as he arrived at his home and placed him under arrest.

Subsequent investigations by police in Marshfield, Braintree, and Belmont revealed that St. Martin allegedly committed similar acts in those towns.

Arrest warrants have been issued by police departments in Marshfield and Braintree.
