Auburn police arrest man on multiple drug, firearm charges

AUBURN — Auburn Police officers arrested a 29-year-old man on a slew of drug trafficking and firearm charges after locating him at a residence on Spring Street.

On Aug. 6, at about 3 p.m., members of the Auburn Police Department’s Proactive Community Enforcement Unit (PACE) and the patrol division went to 21 Spring Street to locate Omar M.

Omar, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a felony domestic violence charge.

Officers found Omar at the address and subsequently drafted a search warrant for the residence.

During the search, police discovered a loaded Sig Sauer 9-millimeter handgun, roughly ten grams of cocaine base (crack), 34 Oxycodone 30-milligram pills, 9 grams of fentanyl, 5 grams of cocaine, digital scales, and $2,155 in suspected drug proceeds.

Omar was taken into custody and booked at the Androscoggin County Jail on the outstanding warrant, as well as new charges including Aggravated Trafficking Fentanyl – class A, Aggravated Trafficking cocaine base (crack) – class A, Aggravated Trafficking cocaine – class A, Aggravated Trafficking Oxycodone – class A, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Felon – class C.

Having a prior felony conviction, Omar is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The presence of the firearm elevated the drug trafficking charges to aggravated.

Omar’s bail has been set at $10,000 on the new criminal charges.
