CRANSTON — Rhode Island law enforcement agencies have made a series of arrests over two days, apprehending individuals on charges ranging from failure to register as a sex offender to possession of child pornography and drug trafficking.
On Aug. 6, the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Michael Shutt, 59, of Cranston, on charges including failure to register as a Level III sex offender and shoplifting, along with being a fugitive from Justice from Kentucky for assault on a police officer and fraud.
Shutt was taken into custody without incident and handed over to the Cranston Police Department for arraignment.
That same day, the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force arrested Julio Soto, 42, of Warwick, on multiple drug charges.
Soto is accused of possessing and intending to deliver large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, as well as being involved in a controlled substance conspiracy.
After being processed at the Lincoln Barracks, he was arraigned and then taken to the ACI Intake Center, pending a morning arraignment in Sixth District Court.
On Aug. 7, the Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Kasheem Pack, 29, of Cranston, for possession of child pornography.
Pack was arraigned in the Third District Court, where Justice Houlihan set his bail at $5,000 Personal Recognizance with conditions including no contact with minors and restricted internet use.
Additionally, on Aug. 7, the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Justin S.
Lomastro, 23, of North Kingstown, on a warrant for electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.
Lomastro was peacefully apprehended and transported to the Warwick Police Department.
