CONCORD — An inmate was taken back into custody after a standoff at the State Office Complex on Tuesday, authorities said.
State police said Tad Emerson, 33, who was in a minimum-security work program, barricaded himself with a knife inside a room at 127 Pleasant Street around 3 p.m.
After about five hours of negotiations, Emerson was apprehended by the New Hampshire State Police Crisis Negotiation Unit and returned to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men.
During the incident, the complex was cordoned off and people were advised to stay clear of the area.
Emerson now faces charges of being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
An arraignment is pending.
