Shirley police seek suspects in porch pirate theft of cell phones

SHIRLEY — Responding to a report of stolen goods, Shirley Police Department officers are investigating a porch piracy incident that occurred on Aug. 6, where two cell phones were swiftly taken after being delivered to a residence.

According to witnesses, the phones delivered by FedEx were snatched within minutes by two male suspects, who might be either Black or Hispanic.

The thieves then fled to a Jeep Grand Cherokee that seemed to have been waiting nearby.

The vehicle in question is a late model from between the years 2011 and 2020, featuring tinted license plate covers and windows, and was noted to have a Massachusetts State inspection sticker.

Authorities suspect that the theft was premeditated, with the culprits possibly having prior knowledge of the phone delivery schedule.

The Shirley Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in apprehending the individuals responsible for this crime.
