TRUMBULL — Three men were arrested Saturday night after they were caught using a stolen car to break into other vehicles in the area, Trumbull Police Department reported.

At about 10:30 p.m., officers responded to Smith Drive following reports of males stealing items from parked cars.

An officer spotted three individuals on Lorma Avenue near Blackhouse Road who matched the suspects’ descriptions.

The men, later identified as Jamere Sutton, 18, of Bridgeport, and Jamarri and Timothy Covington, ages 20 and 22 respectively, from New Haven, claimed they were lost.

Upon detention, the suspects provided false identities but were later positively identified by witnesses as the individuals seen entering vehicles, an event also captured on video.

The men were found in possession of stolen items, including identification and credit cards belonging to several victims.

Further investigation revealed that Timothy Covington had the key to a black Nissan Murano parked nearby, which was confirmed to be the stolen vehicle from New Haven with a stolen license plate from Hamden.

All three suspects were charged with multiple offenses, including Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of Motor Vehicle, and were held on a $20,000 bond each.

They are scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Aug. 5.
