Springfield woman arrested for crack cocaine possession

SPRINGFIELD — A routine traffic stop late Monday night led to the arrest of a local woman on drug possession charges, according to Springfield police.

At approximately 11:33 p.m., Officer Callahan of the Springfield Police Department observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on Charlestown Road.

The officer conducted a stop and identified the driver as Heather Stewart.

During the investigation, Stewart was allegedly found in possession of crack cocaine.

She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department for processing.

Following her arrest, Stewart was released with a citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Sept. 10 at 8 a.m. She will answer to the charge of possession of crack cocaine.

The Springfield Police Department emphasized that decisions regarding bail and incarceration are not within their purview but are managed by the judicial system, including judges, court clerks, and the state attorney’s office.

Officers Callahan, Cpl Perkins, Ofc. Singleton, and Ofc. Freeman were listed as the investigating officers for the incident.
