SOUTH WINDSOR — A 62-year-old Springfield, Massachusetts, man was arrested by South Windsor Police on July 31 after failing to comply with sex offender registry requirements, authorities said.

Alan Calkins was charged on an active arrest warrant for failing to verify his address with the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry, a report from May indicated.

Despite residing in Massachusetts, Calkins works in South Windsor, which necessitates regular address verification under state law.

Calkins surrendered to the South Windsor Police Department at 10:10 a.m. and was processed.

He was released after posting a $50,000 surety bond.

The South Windsor Police Department, under Sergeant Mark Cleverdon, the public information officer, confirmed that Calkins is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 14 at 9 a.m.
