Pawtucket man faces multiple warrants after traffic stop

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Troopers arrested a 36-year-old Pawtucket man, Justin Araujo, on July 30 at 9:04 a.m. following a traffic stop in the city, which revealed a string of bench warrants for his arrest.

Araujo, of 102 Oakdale Avenue, was taken into custody after he was found to have outstanding warrants for various charges, including driving with a suspended license and possession of controlled substances, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

Troopers detailed that Araujo had two Third Division District Court Bench Warrants for failure to appear for arraignment on charges of driving with a suspended license, both originating from the Johnston Police Department.

Additionally, he was wanted on three Providence Superior Court Full Bench Warrants for failing to appear for disposition on charges of possession of a Schedule I to V substance, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and receiving stolen goods — these charges stemmed from incidents in Providence, Johnston, and North Providence respectively.

Moreover, Araujo faced two Sixth Division District Court Bench Warrants for failing to appear for a bail violation and an arraignment related to driving with a suspended license charges from the Cumberland Police Department and the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks.

Following the stop on Ashburton Street, Araujo was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and subsequently turned over to the Providence Superior Court for arraignment.

In a separate incident that same day at 10:07 p.m., Troopers arrested 18-year-old Cristofer Brito of 134 Chester Avenue, Providence, on an affidavit and arrest warrant for receiving stolen goods valued over $1,500 and conspiracy, following a vehicle stop on Whitmarsh Street.

The warrant was issued by the West Warwick Police Department.

Brito was also processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks before being transferred to the West Warwick Police Department.
