Suspect nabbed in Jamaica Plain shooting, firearm recovered

BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers apprehended 25-year-old Christian Coloma of Roslindale on Monday following a shooting incident in Jamaica Plain that left one person with life-threatening injuries.

The arrest occurred at approximately 2:38 p.m. after officers, responding to a ShotSpotter activation and a 911 call, discovered an adult male victim with a gunshot wound at 245 Centre Street.

Officers provided immediate medical aid until Boston EMS transported the victim to a local hospital.

Police broadcasted a suspect description, noting the individual was seen fleeing on a green and black motorized scooter toward Columbus Avenue.

While canvassing the area, officers spotted the suspect on Amory Street and pursued him to Union Avenue and Rockvale Circle.

Coloma abandoned the scooter and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended on Rockvale Circle after a brief chase.

A discarded firearm was recovered along the suspect’s flight path.

Charges against Coloma include Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Refusal to Submit to a Police Officer.

He is scheduled for arraignment at Roxbury District Court.
