SPRINGFIELD — Martin R. Gonyea, a 37-year-old Springfield resident, was arrested Monday by detectives from the Vermont State Police Narcotics Investigation Unit following a thorough investigation spanning several months.
Gonyea now faces a series of charges related to drug distribution, including four counts of selling fentanyl, four counts of selling cocaine, four counts of selling drugs near school property, and three counts of violating court-ordered conditions of release.
The investigation uncovered that Gonyea engaged in the sale of fentanyl and cocaine around Springfield in early 2024.
His activities occurred within a 500-foot radius of a public school, which led to the additional charges.
Moreover, Gonyea was found to have breached conditions set by the Windham Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court from two separate dockets—one for cocaine possession and another for heroin possession.
Following his arrest, Gonyea was held on $10,000 bail.
He has received a citation to appear before the Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division, at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
State Police commended the Springfield Police Department for their collaboration in the investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that the case is still active and ongoing, and no further details will be disclosed at this time.
