Boston police seize gun, drugs in Nubian Square operation

BOSTON — Members of the Boston Police Department’s Roxbury Drug Control Unit recovered a firearm and narcotics Saturday afternoon during a targeted patrol in Nubian Square aimed at curtailing street-level drug offenses.

Around 1:44 p.m. on July 27, officers observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction between two individuals at the intersection of Roxbury St. and Washington St. Both parties were stopped for identification and further investigation.

One of the suspects, identified as 42-year-old Samuel Rodriguez of Everett, was found in possession of a loaded firearm concealed within a fanny pack.

Officers also discovered a substance believed to be crack cocaine on Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was arrested and is slated for arraignment in Roxbury District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm subsequent offense, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The second individual, whose name has not been released, will face charges for the distribution of a Class B drug, specifically crack cocaine.
