BREWER — A local man was arrested Wednesday on charges of possessing sexually explicit material involving minors, according to Brewer Police Department officials.

Patrick Herschell, 46, of Brewer, faces a Class C felony charge following an investigation that began with a referral from the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

The case was assigned to Detective Savannah Lutz, an affiliate investigator with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program.

After a thorough investigation, Lutz obtained a search warrant for Herschell’s residence.

Law enforcement officers executed the warrant on July 25, the same day of Herschell’s arrest.

Investigators seized electronic devices from Herschell’s home, and a subsequent examination uncovered images of child pornography.

The Brewer Police Department’s Detectives Division is handling the ongoing investigation.

Herschell is currently being held as he awaits further legal proceedings.

The Brewer Police Department has not released additional details about the case at this time.
