WILTON — In a coordinated operation with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA), the Wilton Police Department assisted in a drug investigation on July 22 that led to a high-speed pursuit and the arrest of a New York woman for drug trafficking and other charges.

The surveillance of a residence on Village View Street culminated in a traffic stop involving Tasia Jackson, 29, of New York, New York, by Wilton Police officers on Main Street.

Approximately 10-15 minutes into the stop, Jackson allegedly accelerated her vehicle abruptly, narrowly missing an officer and their K-9 partner, and fled the scene.

After a dangerous high-speed chase across U.S. Rt. 2 E and onto Maxwell Road, Jackson was finally apprehended on Riley Road in Jay.

A subsequent search of her vehicle uncovered over 300 grams of drugs, including crack cocaine and cocaine hydrochloride, along with a significant sum of suspected drug proceeds.

Jackson is now facing multiple charges, including Aggravated Reckless Conduct, Eluding an Officer, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, and Driving to Endanger.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Warden Service, and Jay Police Department also provided assistance in the operation.

Chief Ethan Kyes of the Wilton Police Department expressed the department’s commitment to addressing drug-related offenses and the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling these issues.
