OAK BLUFFS — The Oak Bluffs Police Department reported handling a total of 209 incidents this past week, from Monday, July 15 to Sunday, July 21.

The week began with officers responding to a fight involving multiple males and juveniles at Healy Square and Post Office Square early Monday morning.

The situation was diffused, with one juvenile detained and later released to a parent.

Traffic violations were a common theme, with several motorists stopped and cited for offenses such as passing over a double yellow line, expired registrations, and unlicensed operation.

Notably, on Tuesday, a female was arrested for felony vandalism after allegedly slashing tires on multiple vehicles.

The police also addressed several alcohol-related incidents, including a female in protective custody for having an open container and a male arrested for DUI on Saturday.

Additionally, officers encountered individuals causing disturbances, including two drunk males at the harbor bathhouse on Sunday evening.

Among other notable incidents, officers assisted with a bicycle versus motor vehicle accident, took reports of thefts and larcenies, and issued no trespass notices.

The week also saw the Oak Bluffs Police assist with the annual parade organized by the Holy Ghost Association and the Portuguese American Club.

The department’s busy week underscores the range of issues faced by local law enforcement, from maintaining public safety to enforcing traffic laws and managing community events.
