WHITINGHAM — Under the sunny skies of a dry July afternoon, a single-vehicle crash led to the arrest of a local man on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Vermont State Police from the Westminster Barracks responded to the incident on Parsons Rd at approximately 2:48 p.m. on July 19.
According to the authorities, Zachary Stewart, 26, of Whitingham, lost control of his 2005 Jeep Liberty and collided with an embankment.
Stewart, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, did not sustain any injuries.
However, his vehicle suffered extensive damage to the front and driver’s side.
An investigation at the scene found that Stewart had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquors.
He was arrested and processed for DUI #1.
Following the processing, Stewart was released to a responsible adult and received a criminal citation for the offense.
The crash remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
