NORTHAMPTON — A routine traffic stop for an expired inspection sticker this morning led to the arrest of four individuals on drug trafficking and related charges, Northampton Police Department reports.
Officer Andrew Kohl initiated the stop on Pleasant Street at approximately 9:35 a.m., where he observed indicators of drug paraphernalia.
A subsequent investigation by the officers on scene revealed 27.81 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of crack cocaine, and 50 bags of heroin in the vehicle.
The four occupants, including a 53-year-old male from Holyoke, a 44-year-old male, a 58-year-old female, and a 54-year-old female, all from Northampton, were taken into custody.
Charges against the individuals include cocaine trafficking, possession with the intent to distribute Class A and Class B substances, conspiracy to violate drug law, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and the vehicle’s lack of a valid inspection sticker.
The Northampton Police Department has not released any further details about the investigation at this time.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned in the local court.
