Youth violence strike force nabs two in South Boston armed robbery

BOSTON — Two juveniles were arrested by Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force following an armed robbery in South Boston on Friday evening.

At approximately 7:29 p.m., on July 12, officers responded to a call near Allstate Road about an individual with a gun.

During their patrol, police witnessed a male juvenile pressing a female against a wall while brandishing what seemed to be a plastic firearm.

The male fled the scene as officers approached, but was quickly apprehended and handcuffed.

Further investigation led to the discovery that the apprehended suspect had handed a stolen cellphone to an accomplice.

Law enforcement officials located the second juvenile suspect in a nearby group and took him into custody as well.

The stolen cellphone was subsequently found in some bushes, and the toy gun used in the robbery was confiscated as evidence.

The 14-year-old was charged with delinquency to wit; armed robbery.

The 13-year-old faces charges of delinquency to wit; armed and masked robbery, and delinquency to wit; assault and battery.

Both suspects are set to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
