KENSINGTON — A Kensington woman faces theft charges after allegedly stealing wine from a local farm store on Wednesday.

Lisa Verkouille was arrested and charged with theft by unauthorized taking after police say she took three bottles of wine from The Farm at Eastman’s Corner on South Road.

The Kensington Police Department received a complaint at 12:36 p.m. that Verkouille had placed multiple bottles of wine in her backpack and left without paying.

She reportedly exited the store and rode away on a bicycle heading north on Amesbury Road.

Chief Scott Cain intercepted Verkouille on Wild Pasture Road.

Her backpack contained three bottles of Tiamo Prosecco valued at approximately $60, according to police.

Authorities say Verkouille had a previous no-trespass order from the farm store in 2022.

Following this incident, she was issued a permanent no-trespass order.

Verkouille was placed in protective custody for intoxication and transported to the Rockingham County Jail.
