Man arrested for burglary in Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO — A Connecticut man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly burglarizing a residence and unlawfully entering a vehicle on Canal Street, police said.

Troy Brown, 31, of New Britain, Connecticut, was taken into custody following a brief foot chase near Morningside Cemetery, according to the Brattleboro Police Department.

Officers began investigating the burglary on July 10.

After identifying Brown as a suspect, police located him in the downtown area, where he reportedly fled on a bicycle.

When officers found Brown again near the cemetery, he attempted to escape on foot before being apprehended, police said.

Brown was processed at the police department and ordered held on $1,000 bail.

He faces charges of burglary, resisting arrest, and unlawful trespass into a motor vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division at 12:30 p.m. on July 11.

The Brattleboro Police Department reminds the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
