Rhode Island State Police arrests two on separate charges of assault, reckless driving

SCITUATE — Troopers arrested two individuals on separate charges following a barracks investigation and a motor vehicle stop, Rhode Island State Police reported.

At 1:13 p.m., Akinola Daramola, 36, of Woonsocket, was arrested on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Simple Assault or Battery.

The arrest came as a result of a barracks investigation and a subsequent residence check.

Daramola was processed at State Police Headquarters and later transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment.

In an unrelated incident early in the morning, at 2 a.m., Tyrell Rodrigues, 18, of Providence, was taken into custody for Reckless Driving/Drag Racing/Eluding Police-1st Offense and Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty.

The arrest was a result of a traffic stop on Douglas Avenue in Providence.

Rodrigues was processed at State Police Headquarters, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released with a scheduled future court date at the Sixth Division District Court.
