BOSTON — Members of the Boston Police Department’s specialized units, in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police, arrested a Worcester man Tuesday morning on charges of drug trafficking and possession of child pornography.
Authorities identified the suspect as Michael J.
Cox, 39, after an arrest at approximately 9:05 a.m. in the vicinity of 11 S Edlin Street, Worcester.
The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by the Human Trafficking Unit, Fugitive Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit.
Armed with a straight warrant from Dorchester District Court, officers approached the residence, announcing their arrival before Cox responded to their knock.
The warrant cited charges of possession of child pornography, dissemination of obscene material to a minor, and enticement of a child under 16.
Upon Cox’s appearance at the door, he was handcuffed, and a subsequent search led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing crystal methamphetamine and two glass pipes.
The premises were then secured as officers awaited a search warrant.
Later that day, at approximately 2:18 p.m., officers executed the search warrant and seized additional methamphetamine packaged in various containers, more glass pipes, three cell phones, five hard drives, and two laptops.
A subsequent analysis confirmed that the seized crystal methamphetamine totaled about 462 grams.
Cox faces charges of Trafficking of Class B substances over 200 grams, in addition to the initial warrant charges.
The Boston Police Department continues its investigation into the case.
