According to authorities, the callers falsely inform individuals that they have missed a court appearance or are being summoned to a grand jury hearing.
Officials stress that courts do not request personal information over the phone and urge residents to be cautious.
Anyone receiving such a call should not provide any personal details and is advised to contact local authorities immediately to report the incident.
The police are investigating the scam and request that victims provide any caller identification information to assist in the inquiry.
