Police responded to a home on Indian Point Street in Newport City around 3 a.m. Sunday after reports of a man trespassing and harassing a female homeowner.

Officers found Dickens had barricaded himself in a bathroom, claiming he had an assault rifle and threatening to shoot if they entered.

Authorities say Dickens was subject to court orders prohibiting him from contacting the homeowner and being in Newport City. He was arrested without incident, and no firearms were found during a property search.

Dickens was arraigned Monday and is being held without bail.
