ANSONIA — A suspected grenade discovered Tuesday morning has temporarily closed the Ansonia Public Works facility on North Division Street, police said.
Public Works employees found the object resembling a grenade in grass along the entrance road to the complex at about 8:30 a.m., according to the Ansonia Police Department.
Fire Marshal Lundeen is assisting in the investigation, and Connecticut State Police are on scene assessing the object.
Authorities said the object may be destroyed on site if feasible.
The police department is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
Officials said they will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
