Cohasset man arrested for multiple vehicle break-ins, police seek more victims

COHASSET — A 24-year-old Cohasset man was arrested Sunday night after a series of vehicle break-ins in the town, police said.

Jack C. MacMillan was taken into custody around 10:30 p.m. following reports of cars being entered and ransacked in the Cohasset Village, Pleasant Street, Red Gate Lane, and Fern Way areas, according to the Cohasset Police Department.

Police, who filed a complaint with Quincy District Court, allege that MacMillan broke into several parked cars, stole items, and had in his possession several prescription pills that did not belong to him.

Responding to 9-1-1 calls about suspicious activity, officers located MacMillan near North Main Street by Wheelwright Park.

The stolen property was recovered at the time of MacMillan’s arrest, and he was found to have a key fob to a Porsche, which police suspect was also stolen.

MacMillan was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, breaking and entering a motor vehicle in the daytime with intent to commit a felony (two counts), receiving stolen property, and possession of Class E drugs.

Following his arrest, MacMillan was held overnight at the Cohasset Police Department and arraigned in court Monday morning.

Cohasset Police believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
