WORCESTER — Officers from the Worcester Police Department apprehended an 18-year-old man on charges related to armed robbery and firearms possession early Saturday morning after a vehicle pursuit and a neighborhood search.
At about 12:30 a.m. on July 6, officers on Cambridge Street noticed a speeding vehicle without a valid inspection sticker and initiated a stop on Harding Street.
A male passenger, later identified as William Tchoubah, fled the scene, prompting a “be on the lookout” alert to nearby officers.
After a brief interrogation and release of the other two occupants in the stopped vehicle, reports of a man fitting Tchoubah’s description in residential yards led officers to his location on Ashmont Street, where he was found hiding in a stairwell and taken into custody.
Worcester Police confirmed Tchoubah had an outstanding warrant for armed assault to murder along with several other firearms-related offenses from a previous incident on Esther Street.
Concerned that Tchoubah may have discarded a weapon in the area, officers conducted a search that led to a home on Canton Street.
With the homeowners’ consent, police searched the property and discovered a Glock pistol hidden between cement and a fence.
The firearm was secured and processed by the Crime Scene Unit.
Tchoubah faces multiple charges including possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, improper storage of a firearm, breaking and entering in the nighttime, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and trespassing.
