CLIFTON — A routine traffic stop on Route 9 led to the arrest of two felons in possession of firearms on Friday, July 5, at 4:19 p.m., according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy from the Clifton Contract, conducting traffic enforcement, attempted to pull over a 2002 GMC Yukon for speeding.
The driver, later identified as Alison Furman, 37, of Princeton, Maine, refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.
Additional deputies from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, along with an officer from the Holden Police Department, joined the chase and successfully stopped the vehicle.
Upon investigation, authorities found a firearm and ammunition in the Yukon.
Both Furman and the passenger, Christopher Bombardier, 35, of Calais, Maine, were found to be felons, barred from possessing firearms.
Furman was arrested on charges including an outstanding Probation Revocation Arrest Warrant, Driving to Endanger, Reckless Conduct, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Bombardier was taken into custody for Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Both were transported to Penobscot County Jail, where they are currently being held.
