Bristol police warn of scam calls requesting money

BRISTOL — The Bristol Police Department issued a scam alert today, cautioning residents about fraudulent phone calls from individuals impersonating law enforcement officers.

Authorities have received multiple reports of a caller claiming to be a member of the Bristol Police, asking for monetary payments.

The police emphasized that they, or any legitimate police agency, would never request money over the phone.

Specifically, the department stated that they do not ask individuals to deposit money into a Bitcoin ATM, purchase gift cards, or wire money for any reason.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious calls to the Bristol Police at 401-253-6900.

The police also remind the public to never share personal or financial information with unsolicited callers.
