FERRISBURGH — On the morning of July 7, Vermont State Police arrested a 30-year-old Barre woman, Maria Trudeau, on several charges including DUI, aggravated domestic assault, and obstruction of emergency services after an incident at a local campground.
According to authorities, troopers were called to the scene at Basin Harbor Road around 9:04 a.m. following reports of a family altercation.
The investigation found that Trudeau had allegedly attempted to inflict serious injury on two family members with a metal shovel.
She is also accused of damaging the victims’ property and attempting to prevent them from contacting emergency services by calling 911.
Trudeau had left the scene on a motorcycle before law enforcement arrived but was later apprehended on VT Route 125 in Addison.
Upon interaction with Trudeau, troopers noted signs of impairment.
She was subsequently screened for DUI, arrested, and taken to the New Haven Barracks for processing.
Following processing, the court ordered Trudeau to be held without bail.
She was transported to the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on the next day.

The Vermont State Police are withholding the names of the victims in accordance with policies to protect individuals involved in domestic violence cases.
