SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield man has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a report of erratic driving earlier this month, according to the Springfield Police Department.

Officers responded to Main Street on July 3 around 4:45 p.m. after receiving calls about a vehicle being driven erratically.

The vehicle, described by the caller, was later located on South Street.

Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Michael Martin, an investigation ensued.

Results from a blood test conducted at the Vermont Forensic Laboratory indicated that Martin was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time he was operating his vehicle.

Martin has been issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Aug. 27 to face the DUI charge.

The Springfield Police Department emphasized that issues related to bail and incarceration are managed by the Judicial System, not the police, and that their role is limited to law enforcement and investigation.
