WELLS — Wells Police Department released a statement detailing a string of arrests and summonses issued over the month of May, with numerous individuals facing charges ranging from Operating Under the Influence (OUI) to aggravated assault.
Among the incidents, on May 3, Matthew Fowler, 34, from Haverhill, Massachusetts, was apprehended on a warrant for Aggravated Assault from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.
Fowler was held without bail and transported to the York County Jail.
The same day saw Linda Sloat, 55, of Farmingdale, cited for Attaching False Plates after a traffic stop.
Sloat is due in court on July 24.
A series of OUI charges dominated the police log for May, with arrests including Daria Cullen, 54, of Wells; John Ronayne, of Wells; Floyd Thomas, of Wells; Jeffrey Stadnik, 36, from Bennington, Vermont; Lauren Stapleton, 24, of Sanford; Christopher Power, 65, of Sanford; Daniel Anatra, 27, of Sanford; Hauqiang Wu, 47, of Wells; Devin Newell, 27, of Medford, Massachusetts; Kayla Agresti, 31, of Saugus, Massachusetts; Michael Chabot, 46, of Lebanon; Charles Washington, 44, of Eliot; Laurie Borriello, 60, of Wells; Adam Alexandre, 31, of Sanford; Richard Warring, 71, of Wells; and Bjorn Hoydahl, 54, of Kennebunk.
All are scheduled to appear in court on various dates.
Furthermore, on May 17, officers responded to an underage drinking party, resulting in several summonses for offenses including allowing minors to possess or consume liquor.
Other notable arrests included Jason Baker, 39, of Wells, turning himself in on an outstanding warrant, and Leonard Anderson, 61, of Ogunquit, charged with OUI.
Jason Welch, 62, of Wells, was charged with Domestic Violence Assault and posted the required bail.
The Wells Police reported several other traffic-related offenses, including summonses for Operating with a Suspended Registration and Operating without a License.
The arrests and investigations highlight ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address various crimes within the community.
All apprehended individuals are expected to appear at the York County Judicial Center in Biddeford on their scheduled court dates.
