CRANSTON — Two suspects are in custody following a violent incident that left a teenager stabbed and a young man dead early July 5.

Police say the chaos began around 12:39 a.m. when officers responded to a large disturbance on Oak Street at Trainor Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 15-year-old boy with severe stab wounds to his back.

The suspect in the stabbing, identified as 23-year-old Destiny Torres, had fled the scene in a grey Honda Accord driven by Edwin Torres, 24.

As additional law enforcement converged on the area, Edwin Torres was seen engaging in a confrontation with Isaac Vasquez, 21.

According to eyewitnesses and police reports, Torres deliberately ran over Vasquez with the vehicle.

Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cranston Police Detective Unit, BCI Unit, Traffic Unit, and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office are diligently working on the ongoing investigation. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Vasquez during this profoundly difficult time.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies for their loss,” stated a representative from the police department.

Destiny Torres, of North Providence, has been charged with felony assault for the stabbing.

The teenage victim is currently in stable condition at RI Hospital.

Edwin Torres, a Cranston resident, faces a murder charge in connection with the death of Vasquez.

Both suspects appeared before Kent County District Court for their arraignment on the charges.
