NEWPORT — Vermont-based singer-songwriter Kyle Chadburn and his band, The Earthbound Spirits, have released their latest album, “Free Will Becomes Fate,” a year after their previous work.

The album, recorded at Tank Recording Studio in Burlington, marks the band’s second collaboration with engineer and producer Ben Collette, known for his work with Phish, Strangefolk, and other notable acts.

Chadburn, a veteran of the Vermont and northern New England music scene for over 20 years, leads the five-piece band. The Earthbound Spirits include Travis Leblanc on drums, Chris Doncaster on bass, Rudy Dauth as a multi-instrumentalist, and Mike Fried on keyboards.

For this project, the band added a horn section featuring Chris Peterman, Avery Cooper, and Connor Young, who contribute to two tracks: “Ain’t That True” and “Can’t Get Through.”

The album showcases the band’s expanding musical range, offering a mix of styles from retro-R&B to Americana and rock. Tracks include the blue-eyed soul number “Something Out of Nothing” and the rock-oriented “Some Kind of Revolution.”
