NORWALK — Norwalk Police patrol officers quickly resolved a potentially dangerous situation when they discovered a 6-year-old child asleep in a Housing Authority passenger van on May 15, after the child did not return home from after-school activities.

The incident prompted an investigation by the Special Victims Unit.

It was found that Vladimir Galette, the van driver employed by the Norwalk Housing Authority, had neglected to follow required protocols to check the van for passengers before locking it for the night.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Galette on a charge of Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree.

On July 4, Galette, a 47-year-old Stamford resident, was located and arrested without incident in Stamford.

Galette, of 56 Stephen St., is being held on a $10,000 court-set bond and is due to appear in court on July 15.
